Common questions
Can a resident in assisted living get Medicare home health?
Yes. Assisted and independent living are residences, not skilled nursing facilities, so the Medicare home health benefit is generally still available when the clinical criteria are met. A stay in a skilled nursing facility is the case that changes things.
Does this compete with our care staff?
No. Skilled home health is intermittent medical care under a physician's order — nursing visits, therapy, wound care — not personal care or supervision. It supplements what your team does.
How do we refer?
Send the resident's name, date of birth, phone, insurance and the reason. We take it from there and confirm back with you.
